'Sugarbabe' favors negotiated infidelity - CNN.com

'Sugarbabe' favors negotiated infidelity - CNN.com

And we wonder why we have trouble with our kids today...

What is most astounding is the not-even-implied sexist assumptions that:

1. Men are "dogs" incapable of controlling sexual (or any urges) integral to their "nature."
2. They need to be kept "on a leash" by permitting a "stroll in the park" now and then; however,
since marriage is an antiquated and meaningless institution, this is no 'biggie,' with no consequence.
3. Relationships, sexual and otherwise, are useful when gratifying, and discarded when not.
4. That such "free" relationships are somehow "healthy."

Note that should similar assumptions about women made by men - that women are controlling in relationships via insistence on serial monogamy, and who 'holds' the leash, (i.e., judges the relationship worthwhile,) or sets the ground rules constitutes a form of oppression, would meet with howls of "patriarchy!" Apparently it's OK for women to make such generalizations about men- and set the ground rules.

On the Brink

On the Brink

She restates what I've heard from many circles, including the Church.

What I have not heard, though, is such commentary coming from England. At least not frequently, although I am not as widely read as I would like.

The Elephant in the Room

The Elephant in the Room

Interesting article about sexual ethics, politically driven agendas involving children, and the objective wrong in promoting a wayward homosexual lifestyle.
Building strong families in God is the only antidote.

Study Links Substance Abuse and Abortion

Study Links Substance Abuse and Abortion

Better not tell the pro-choice people...I'm not sure they're ready to hear this anyway.
After awhile the associative links are so strong, even the causality becomes something of a moot issue.

Gratitude & Grace

a thoughtful feature article on grace and gratitude

The difference between entitlement and rights? Appreciation of the gift...so simple. Benedict mentions it directly; a great antidote for anomie and postmodern dissatisfaction.

Gloria.tv: Obama - I don't want my daughters "punished with a baby"

Gloria.tv: Obama - I don't want my daughters "punished with a baby"

This short clip with Obama about says it all. Probably playing to the crowd during an election stump last year.

Like many others, I have concerns that this near unconscious view among "pro-choicers" - finally articulated by Obama here - that some lives are not worth
living, or that they can be snuffed when inconvenient- must certainly impact other areas of moral decision-making.

How exactly? Does it, as they might claim, only impact poor mothers? How can we measure the full impact of moral
degradation of the devaluation of life? If we can measure, say, the economic impact of a mill closure or the pollution
of a stream, why not the dollar value of an immoral decision or "choice"?

Bishops in Iraq urge government to halt slaughter of Christians

Bishops in Iraq urge government to halt slaughter of Christians

Just Christians persecute others? What's more telling, but not in this article, is the formalized (i.e., legislative/judicial) marginalization of faith, especially in the West.
Not perhaps as sensational, but much more threatening.

Who were the Founders?

Funny...I never thought of the Founders as "warm Deists"

Critic denounces Guttmacher teen pregnancy study as 'terribly simplistic' :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)

Critic denounces Guttmacher teen pregnancy study as 'terribly simplistic' :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)

I find not only the representation of 'facts' here disingenuous, but the ultimate goal of these comparative abstinence-only vs. condom endorsement programs are at such odds as to be ludicrous.
Guttmacher has never been an objective social research agency anyway, but the wildly discrepant aims illustrates just how fragmented we've become on this issue as a culture.

The New Chuch

Gaia as the new Church... as much as Robertson goes off like a loose-cannon, the author does bring up some good ideas...

What's Your Meta-Ethic?

What's Your Meta-Ethic?

Great-yet simple- article about meta-ethics. What do you believe, and why?
(Not as heavy as you think...)
